Muaythai

Muay Thai is a combat sport that requires skill, technique and tactics, as well as physical and mental stamina.

Muay Thai is a vertical fighting sport, of which the range of techniques includes punches, elbows, kicks, knee kicks, holding and defense techniques, as well as vertical wrestling, or Thai wrestling. Training is very versatile and in addition to technique and skill, it grows and develops muscle condition, endurance and strength. There are national and international competitions in Thai boxing, where it is possible to compete in youth and adult divisions up to the World Championship level.

We emphasize that everyone exercises according to their own fitness level and that teaching is of high quality and comfortable for everyone. The basic course is intended for people of all fitness levels and welcomes new enthusiasts of very different ages and levels. After the basic course, you can continue training for the same price both in the center and in Hervanta. Instructor-led classes are held 6 days a week, from which you can choose the one that suits you best.

Thai boxing is Thailand's national sport and its history stretches back over 2000 years.

In its current form, the Muaythai has been practiced since the 1930s. The sport is an important part of the Thailand’s cultural history and can be seen throughout the country. Although training was originally aimed at fighting, the sport has developed into an effective and popular form of fitness and self-improvement. Muaythai arrived in Finland in the early 1980s.

Chitalada's Muaythai originates directly from Thailand, after the president of the club went there to train from the early 90s and continuing to visit several times a year with the big names and coaches of the sport. The name Chitalada comes from the famous Thai professional gym in Bangkok, where the president of the club, Sot Chitalada, used to train. Several top names in professional boxing and Muaythai trained at the gym, and the owner gave our club president the honor of using the gym's name in Finland as well.

The style of Chitalada's fighters has been praised in around the world as a fine, authentic, Thai style. We teach the sport with versatility, and our competitive success internationally shows the level of our expertise. The chairman of Chitalada has very good relations with Thailand's Muaythai industry and enthusiasts can go to train or fight at various gyms and stadiums in Thailand if they wish. However, the majority of Chitalada's enthusiasts participate with a fitness mindset, and everyone can exercise according to their own fitness level and choose after the basic course in which groups they want to continue.

At the chairman's invitation, legendary top Muaythai fighters have also visited Chitalada's gym in Finland, such as: Samkor Keatmonthep, Saiyok Pumphanmuang, Thongchai Tor Silachai, Peteak, Jao Chalam, Rhottang, Khunsuk, Chanaek, Samranchai 96 Penang, Jomhod, Mee. Chitalada has also organized several international Muaythai match nights and competitors have gone to compete in many different countries in both amateur and professional matches.
